If you are not an Australian Citizen you will need a Visa to come to Australia. If you try to enter Australia without a visa you will be either refused to board the plane, or turned around at the airport. If you are in Australia without a visa you can be removed from Australia and banned for several years.
There are a range of Visas available in Australia, depending what you want to do. All visas have a number for your “easy reference”.
Holiday
If you want to come on holiday to Australia then you will either need a Visitor Visa (600), or if eligible an ETA (601), or an e-Visitor Visa (651), or indeed either a Working Holiday Visa (417) or Work and Holiday Visa (462).
Study
If you want to come and study you will need a Student Visa (500). We have made a strong decision not to work on student visas except for secondary applicants, as it would be a conflict of interest for us.
Student agencies get a commission from your course fees when they assist you, so if we lodged student visas we could in theory be tempted to turn you away from another more beneficial visa to get that commission.
Work
If you want to work in Australia then there are a range of potentially useful visa’s, including temporary employer sponsorship on a 482, and permanent employer sponsorship on a 186, or permanent regional sponsorship on a 187. See our page on Employer Sponsorship for more about working visa’s for Australia.
Skilled Migration
Skilled Migration is designed to allow people who are offshore and onshore to apply for independent migration to Australia without the need for employer sponsorship. See our page on Skilled Migration for a step by step guide to skilled migration.
Partners
If you are having a relationship with an Australian, Permanent Resident, or eligible NZ Citizen then you may be able to apply for one of the Partner Visas.
Other
If you don’t know which of the above suits you, or you want another visa, then please get in touch.
